Med Pearls Project
Most models of tourism in the Mediterranean area are based on mass tourism and follow a fragmented vision of the region as a sum of different markets. Med Pearls aims at internationally positioning the Mediterranean as a unique and integral destination to experience the Med lifestyle through SlowTourism (ST), inviting travellers to discover sustainably and responsibly new destinations while taking time to have direct contact with local communities. The project will deliver a set of 26 new ST products created by local Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and ICT enterprises thanks to financial and technical support called Product Development and Innovation Facilities.

Itinerary
All year round
Arrival by side roads to La Pobla de Cérvoles, where you’ll stay at a small municipal motorhome site. We recommend exploring this small village and paying a visit to the local co-op to buy local produce.
You’ll go on a short walk to the Vinya dels Artistes open-air museum at Mas Blanch i Jové, a family winery where you can enjoy the artists’ vineyard, a set of sculptures and installation artworks set amidst grapevines and olive trees. Time for the activity to experience and understand the entire process of winemaking: a guided tour of the winery from the vats and barrels to bottling. The tour will end with a wine and olive oil tasting.
Have a short drive to L’Albi, which is 10 kilometres away. Here, you’ll park at a small municipal motorhome site. Make the most of your time to visit the centre of this lovely village and do some shopping at the local co-op. In the evening, you’ll have dinner at local restaurant to sample seasonal dishes made with local produce.
Guided tour of the winery and wine and olive oil tasting at Mas Blanch i Jové and Dinner at local restaurant in L’Albi included.
Go to the village of Cervià de les Garrigues. Right in the heart of nature, you’ll find the Les Cometes estate, a small family farm that produces premium-quality extra virgin oil thanks to biodynamic processes. You can take and a guided tour given by the owners to see the farm machinery, with explanations about the harvest. This includes a visit to the oil mill with an explanation of the production process and a tasting of the nine types of olive oil they produce. We recommend a self-guided tour of the estate afterwards to enjoy its peaceful surroundings.
You’ll enjoy a breakfast featuring local products in the olive grove.
Guided tour of the estate and olive oil tasting and breakfast featuring local products at Les Cometes included.
Free day to explore Arbeca or relax in this peaceful place. Here you’ll take a tour of the vineyards and winery, after which you’ll get to taste the wines made at this estate.
Drive along side roads and enjoy the landscape on the way to Els Torms. Arrival to the motorhome site on the Olicatessen olive oil farm.
Depending on the time of year, at this small family farm – which boasts centenary olive trees recovered from the region – you can enjoy experiences related to olives and oil such as watching how olives are harvested, how these arrive to the olive mill, a workshop on the maceration of table olives or a workshop on how to make oil lamps.
Guided tour of the winery and wine tasting at Vinya Els Vilars and Olive oil experience/workshop (depending on the time of year) at the Olicatessen estate included.
Learn about the origins of olive oil production. Drive to La Granadella, where you’ll visit the Olive Oil Museum of Catalonia, getting to see the state-of-the-art olive oil production facilities and the ancient oil mill, the best-preserved one in the region. At the end of the tour, you can buy local products from the La Granadella co-op. And before concluding your trip to discover the origins of olive oil, we recommend exploring town on foot. You’ll be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the valley and a restful open-air museum.
Follow the winding road that takes you to the heart of the Bovera Valley.
Take a guided tour of the Bovera Valley and lunch. Some areas of this valley are experiencing an economic reactivation, with the creation of organic products alongside the promotion of the conservation of agricultural, landscape, natural and cultural heritage. This way, during the guided tour of the valley, you’ll come across traditional architectural elements that have been restored and get a first-hand look at organic farming and the biodiversity project featuring Catalan donkeys (‘rucs’) in place.
