Med Pearls Project
Most models of tourism in the Mediterranean area are based on mass tourism and follow a fragmented vision of the region as a sum of different markets. Med Pearls aims at internationally positioning the Mediterranean as a unique and integral destination to experience the Med lifestyle through SlowTourism (ST), inviting travellers to discover sustainably and responsibly new destinations while taking time to have direct contact with local communities. The project will deliver a set of 26 new ST products created by local Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and ICT enterprises thanks to financial and technical support called Product Development and Innovation Facilities.

Itinerary
All year round
Arrival to the family-run Vinya els Vilars wine estate. Here you’ll stay at a well-equipped motorhome site amidst vineyards. Make the most of your time by having a chat with its lovely owners, enjoying the sunset and going for a stroll through this wonderful slice of peace and quiet. There are also cycling routes available if you fancy going for a ride.
You’ll head off to discover the origins of the Iberian civilisation. Just six kilometres away, you’ll find the Els Vilars Fortress, one of the most complete Iberian archaeological sites in the country.
Once the tour is over, you can go back to the motorhome. On your way back, we recommend paying a visit to the centre of Arbeca. Here you can buy local products at the town’s farmers’ co-op. If you wish, you could have lunch at a recommended restaurant bearing the local seal of quality.
Make the most of your time in Arbeca before heading back to the motorhome site. In Vinya els Vilars, as an option, you could take a guided tour of the winery and go wine tasting while you buy its wines.
Guided tour of Els Vilars Fortress in Arbeca included.
Drive to get to Fulleda. We recommend stopping by the small villages along the way.
The first stop will be La Floresta. Here, you’ll take a guided tour of a well-preserved 14th-century castle.
Driving along side roads through landscapes of olive groves and vineyards. Take as much time as you need to explore these villages at your own pace.
You’ll explore the Vinaixa Valley while riding a mountain bike, a guide will arrive with mountain bikes to take you to discover an environment brimming with nature and heritage. You can enjoy a picnic during the excursion before heading back to the motorhome.
Get some free time to discover the village of Fulleda.
Guided tour of La Floresta Castle and Guided MTB excursion with picnic included.
Whenever you’re ready, head towards Vinaixa, which is 10 kilometres away.
Halfway there, we recommend stopping by Tarrés, a small village with narrow streets and stone houses. Here you can shop for some local produce at the old winemaking co-op and El Sindicat. Stroll along Carrer de l’Església until you get to the Church of Santa Maria Assumpta and Plaça de la Font.
Once in Vinaixa, you’ll discover another iconic town of the Vinaixa Valley. You can go for a stroll through the centre and buy local products at the local co-op.
Spend some time in Vinaixa, and whenever you’re ready, drive 12 kilometres to Les Borges Blanques. We recommend going along side roads that will take you through the Vinaixa Valley.
